I know nothing about this, but I want to commend you for referring to Farsi as "Persian". All the Iranian-Americans I know refer to the language as "Persian". Of course, they refer to themselves as "Persian" too.
Posted by Cryptic Ned at February 17, 2006 05:19 PMI actually posted on that very subject back in 2003... hey, and I see you left the first comment back then too! Others seem to disagree with you about expat use.
Posted by language hat at February 18, 2006 07:20 AMI might have to try my hand at shoehorning a post into Bokmål (one of my own; I wouldn't want to butcher anyone else's).
Posted by Songdog at February 21, 2006 11:04 AMOh, I completely forgot about that. I can't believe it's been three years.
Posted by Cryptic Ned at February 22, 2006 12:25 AMI'm sure that was my mistake to say "Farsi" -- not Sholeh's. Thanks for the correction!
Posted by Liz Henry at February 22, 2006 02:34 PMNot a mistake at all -- most people refer to it as Farsi these days. But there's a contingent of Iranians that objects to the term.
Posted by language hat at February 22, 2006 05:10 PMAhem. Hat, could you check your mail?
Clock is ticking, you know.
