Comments: SOMBRERO.

I recently learned that the Spanish word for shade is "sombra," so a sombrero is a shade-maker. And a man who makes sombreros, a sombrerero, is a shade-maker-maker. And the mother of a sombrerero is a sombrererera, a shade-maker-maker-maker. And her mother is a sombrerererera, a--you know what? I'll just stop now.

I still think sombrerero is one of the most mellifluous words in any language. It rolls of the tongue so nicely!

I take it that most readers of this blog are not very much into hats. Myself, I love hats and only regret that hats are not in greater use - I don't like to be the centre of attention and wearing a hat (apart from a purely functional one which will keep the snow or the midday sun from contact with your head) inevitably attracts attention. There are even people who say they hate hats! They just haven't found the right hat.

I thoroughly agree!

And yes, I should get around to posting pictures of my hats.
